Transdniestria produced 240,000 decaliters of cognac in nine months
The Transdniestrian region over the first nine months of this year made 240,000 decaliters of cognac, an increase of 23.7% compared with the corresponding period last year.
According to the local economy ministry, wine production in Transdniestria over January-September came to 106,000 decaliters or by 76.7% more than in the same period of 2007. Production of vodka and liqueurs fell 6.7% to 169,000 decaliters.

The Tiraspol-based Kvint factory is the largest producer of strong alcoholic drinks in Transdniestria. It makes about 700,000 decaliters of alcoholic beverages a year. The factory is owned by the group of companies Sheriff, which purchased it in 2006 for US$21.07 million. Investment made by Sheriff in Kvint exceeded US$16 million.
