Transnistria’s net indebtedness up
As of the beginning of 2008, Transnistria’s net indebtedness exceeded USD1.855 billion –USD253.8 million more than a year ago.
According to the Transnistria Central Bank, its liabilities constituted USD2.216 billion (+USD233 million), demands - USD360.6 million (-USD21 million).
The major part of Transnistria’s debts is its gas debts to Russia. In 2007 they increased by USD201.5 million and exceeded USD1.482 billion. Debts on investments, credits and loans increased as well.
At the same time, non-residents’ accounts and deposits in the Transnistrian banks dropped more than three times for a year – from USD159.1 million to USD46.9 million.
The main demands include those on commercial credits - USD125.5 million (+USD17.7 million), as well as correspondent accounts and placements of Transnistrian banks - USD116.2 million (+USD19.2 million). // Infotag
