U.S. investors are ready to help implement water purification technology in Chisinau

Some investors from the United States are interested in implementing a new water-purification technology in Chisinau. The statement was provided by Director of the Apa-Canal [water provider] enterprise Constantin Becciev in an interview on Monday.

He said that "representatives of about 30 American companies will come to Moldova this week to learn the Apa-Canal condition and to establish whether one can implement natural water purification technologies without applying chlorine".

According to Becciev, they will study the sewer chain condition and the silt processing methods applied at treatment facilities.

"We hope that U.S. companies will agree to invest in the water purification, chain reconstruction, so citizens would consume high-quality water and we would not have water chain losses", he said.

Becciev said that the European Union promised to assign 3 million to implement up-to-date water purification technologies.

"And the Raja enterprise (Constanta, Romania), which supplies 6 regions with water, promised us to help pass to microbiological water purification methods, as far as Apa-Canal uses 100-300 tons of chlorine per year. Despite the amount does not exceed the specialist-established standards, anyway, chlorine is very harmful to the people's health", the Director said.

He said that the new water-purifying technology application will not lead to the tariff increase.
