Valeriu Cosarciuc is suspicious that some companies kept right to export in Russia
"Some companies of the 33 that have the right to continue exporting fruits and vegetables to Russia arouse suspicions", Moldova's Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Valeriu Cosarciuc said to journalists.
He said the suspicious fact is that same persons are founders of many of these companies. "We cooperate now with the Information and Security Service (ISS) and the State Chamber of Registration to carefully analyze companies that have been authorized by Russia as fruit and vegetable exporters", Cosarciuc said.
According to him, Russian authorities informed the Agriculture Ministry that over 100 Moldovan vegetable-fruit-exporting companies were excluded of the authorized list because they did not meet necessary safety requirements.
Cosarciuc said he will solve the problem and added the ministry signed a memorandum with the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (RosSelKhozNadzor) in 2008, which says that Russia can exclude exporters of the authorized list only after it tells about that to Moldovan authorities, and only if excluded companies had violate safety requirements more then 3 times during 180 days.
Infotag's dossier: Moldova exported to Russia over 220 thousand tons of vegetables and fruits, including over 100 thousand tons of apples in 2009. 80% of Moldovan fruit and vegetable exports went to Russian Federation.
