Wine exports rose 44.5% in 2008
Moldova last year exported wine products to the value of US$196 million, a 44.5% increase year on year, according to preliminary data.
Sources in the Agroindustrial Agency “Moldova-Vin” have told REPORTER.MD that more exact information will be provided during the first ten days of February.
According to the latest data, wine exports over January-November 2008 have increased by 51% compared with the corresponding period last year. Exports to the CIS states totaled US$152 million, up 56%.
Russia imported Moldovan wine products worth US$56 million, Ukraine and Belarus – US$41 million and, respectively, US$40.6 million.
Exports to the EU during January-November 2008 have risen by about 30%. Among the largest importers of Moldovan wines in the EU are Poland with imports of US8.5 million and Romania with imports of US$5 million.
