World Bank president starts visit to Moldova
Prime Minister Vlad Filat met World Bank President Robert B. Zoellick at the Chisinau International Airport today. The guest is on a working visit to Moldova on 11-12 August, the government's communications and press relations department has said.
Vlad Filat welcomed Robert B. Zoellick, noting that his visit was very important for Moldova.
In January 2010, during an official visit to the USA, the premier met Robert B. Zoellick and invited him to visit Moldova.
This is the first visit by a World Bank president to Moldova, being part of a three-country tour including Bulgaria and Latvia.
The visit's agenda comprises several events which will be attended by World Bank President Robert B. Zoellick and Prime Minister Vlad Filat. Among them there are a visit to a kindergarten in the village Cucuruzeni and a visit to a Nimoreni-based company. Also, the two officials will sign two World Bank projects to be implemented in Moldova and will participate in the roundtable "E-Transformation in Moldova".
The sides will discuss the impact of the global financial crisis and ways for the World Bank to further back the government's efforts to secure economic growth and protect less well-off people
