The trend for the growth of budget revenues in the first quarter of 2008 preserved, but the tempo was lower than in 2007. New Minister of Finance Mariana Durlesteanu said at the Government sitting on Wednesday.

She said that for three month budget revenues constituted 3.2 billion lei – by 122 million lei (3.9%) more than a year ago. The expenditures reached 3.3 billion (+267.7 million lei).

In accordance with the schedule, Moldova made external payments in the amount of USD11.9 million; 138.1 million lei were allocated for servicing the state’s internal debt. In March the state repaid the loan in the amount of 180 million lei to the National Bank of Moldova (NBM).

The budgets of administrative-territorial units collected 1.6 billion (+3%) of revenues for the January-March period; the expenditures exceeded 1.3 billion lei (+24.3%).

The liabilities of the Ministry of Finance to the IMF on the minimal index of the cash surplus are fulfilled, as of March 31. In this way, the continuity of the program, signed between Moldova and the IMF is provided”, the minister underlined.

The target on contribution to the state social insurance budget was fulfilled 106.5% in the first quarter - 1.14 billion lei were collected - by 237 million lei more against the same period of 2006. The expenditures of the social budget constituted 1.33 billion – 2% less than the target, but 141 billion lei more than for the first three months of 2007.

Contributions to the Compulsory Medical Insurance budget constituted 633.3 million lei – by 0.9% more than the target. The insurance premiums, collected in the first quarter, constituted 232.5 million lei (-0.6%). // Infotag
