Only 0.5% of Moldovan citizens do not limit themselves when buying goods
As many as 64.7% of Moldovan citizens state that the current revenues per family are sufficient for the strictly necessary things and do not ensure them a decent living standard and possibility to buy more expensive goods, shows the Public Opinion Barometer– April 2008.
At the same time 29.8% state that their current revenues do not suffice for the strictly necessary and only 0.5% of the respondents stated that they do not limit themselves and are able to buy anything. As many as 4.3% say that they buy certain expensive goods, with restrictions in other goods. As many as 63% of Moldovan citizens say that salary and price raises are in a great conflict, while 67.8% of the population states that to a great extent the drought has affected their material situation. At the same time, 49.2% of respondents are not satisfied with how they live, while 16.9% are satisfied with their living standard. As many as 59.9% of the population are mostly concerned about poverty and prices, 16.8% are concerned with the future of their children, and 8.4% are concerned about unemployment. According to the survey, 71% of the respondents say that they do not have sufficient financial means to invest, and 10.6% say that they have savings for the bad days. Only 2.5% of respondents have savings for investment in businesses. The “Public Opinion Barometer–April 2008" survey was carried out from March 23 through 14 April 2008, on a representative sample of 1,435 people from 117 localities of Moldova. The error margin is of 2.6%. The survey was conducted by the “CIVIS” Analysis Centre and verified by CBS-AXA, on request of the Institute for Public Policies.
