Premier Greceanii discussed with EBRD official the prospects of cooperation between Moldovan and the Bank
Moldovan Government announced its interest in the implementation of projects with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the regional development sector, rural infrastructure, SMEs, road network construction, water and sewerage, energy sector consolidation and development.
The prospects of the cooperation between the Moldovan Government and the EBRD were discussed by Premier Zinaida Greceanii and Varel Freeman, First Vice President of the EBRD, the press service of the Government informs. During the meeting, Zinaida Greceanii has welcomed the initiative of the EBRD Vice President to promote a series of projects in energy efficiency which imply the implementation of electricity saving technologies. The Moldovan premier specified that the new Cabinet will focus their efforts on the successful implementation of the ongoing projects of major importance for the economic development of the country. The EBRD official emphasized that all of the projects proposed by the Moldovan authorities for funding perfectly fit in the cooperation strategy of the Bank and that Moldova can count on the EBRD’s support. “We believe that the partnership with Moldova and our presence here is yet another proof to this end”, Freeman concluded. Moldova became an EBRD member in 1992. At present, the EBRD provided the Moldovan commercial banks with loans in the amount of about 80 mln EUR. In March 2008, the EBRD approved for Moldova several financing lines of about 70 mln EUR, by means of which the local banks will receive loans to increase their crediting resources. // BASA-Press Publication date: 24 April 2008 Source: Archive ADsRelated links- EBRD to increase crediting for moldova - EBRD invigorating its activities in Moldova - EBRD is willing to finance construction of the purification station in Chisinau - EBRD studies the possibility of supporting the financial sector from Moldova - EBRD strengthens SME funding in Moldova Latest news
