Lower oil imports following rises in world oil prices
The imports of oil products (gasoline, diesel oil and liquefied gas) in the first quarter of this year fell by 12.1% compared with the corresponding period last year, down to 130,800 tonnes. At the same time, the imports rose in value by over 40%, to US$116.3 million.
Specialists of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) say the imports decreased in volume following the significant rise in the prices of oil products on the regional and world markets, which consequently led to an increase in the import prices. The average import price of diesel oil over the first quarter rose by 61.8% compared with the same period of 2007, from US$566.4 per tonne to US$916.6 per tonne. Lukoil Moldova, Petrom Moldova and Tirex Petrol imported 80% of the gasoline and 69.3% of the diesel oil into Moldova. Most of the liquefied gas (63%) was imported by Lukoil Moldova, Tezed-S and Dominic. A number of 177 license holders operate on the oil products market in Moldova at present. Twenty-one of these import and sell wholesale gasoline and diesel oil, while 10 import and sell wholesale liquefied gas. The other 146 licensees retail gasoline, diesel oil and liquefied gas at certified filling stations // Reporter.MD Publication date: 13 May 2008 Source: Archive ADsRelated links- Analysis: Austria’s OMV fails in hostile takeover battle against Hungary’s MOL - Imports of food products, beverages and tobacco on the rise - Imports of oil products rose 28.5% in first quarter - Analysis: South stream, North stream increasingly seen as exceeding Gazprom’s supply capacity - Analysis: Austrian government, OMV joining Gazprom’s south stream project, undercut NABUCCO - Imports of Russian gas into Moldova at US$98.6 million in three months - Import prices of gasoline and diesel oil have increased by 11% and 9.5% respectively since year-star - Power imports from Ukraine 7.3% up - Gasoline and diesel oil prices go up again - Power consumption and imports have increased Latest news
