U.S. crude oil inventories increased for the second straight week, following five weeks of declines, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said Wednesday.

Crude inventories increased fractionally in the week ending May 9, up only 200,000 barrels, after an increase of 2.4 million barrels in the previous week.

Supplies, totaling 325.8 million barrels, remain in the middle of the average range for this time of year, the report said.

Gasoline inventories fell by 1.7 million barrels, but remain in the middle of their average range.

Finished gasoline inventories fell, but gasoline blending components inventories rose last week. Distillate fuel inventories also increased by 1.4 million barrels, but are in the lower half of the average range for this time of year, EIA reported.
