Power consumption and imports have increased

The imports of electric power over the first three months of this year rose 4.4% compared with the corresponding period last year, up to about 1.04 billion kWh. Consumption rose by 6.4%, to 869.2 million kWh, the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) said.

According to ANRE specialists, the difference in the acquisition and consumption rates resulted from the reduction in the rate of technological consumption and commercial losses in the power distribution networks.

The share of such consumption in the distribution networks compared with the total volume of supplied power decreased by 1.6 percentage points, from 15.75% in the first quarter of 2007, to 14.11% in the first quarter of this year. These losses totaled 141.1 million kWh. The power distribution companies RED Nord and RED Nord –Vest reported a rate of technological consumption and commercial losses of under the level of 14% fixed by ANRE, while RED Union Fenosa – a rate that exceeds this level by 1.6 percentage points, a communiqu? from ANRE says.

The national power producers in the first quarter of 2008 supplied 386.7 million kWh of power, an increase of 0.7% compared with the corresponding period last year. CET -1 rose production levels by 31.1%, CET Nord – by 15.8%, the Costesti power plant – by 15%, while CET - 2 decreased production by 6.2%. As the first three companies have insignificant market shares, the results achieved by them could not change the general situation on the power market.

The volume of electric power produced in the country decreased by 0.8%, to 37.2%. Instead, the imports of power from Ukraine rose by 1 percentage points, to 62.8%. Total power imports increased by 6.7%, to 652.7 million kWh // Reporter.MD
