National and international roads in Moldova will meet European standards
Only building materials that meet the European standards will be used to construct and repair Moldova’s national and international roads. The Government decided to amend a number of legislative documents in order to make this a legal requirement.
According to the Minister of Construction and Regional Development Vladimir Baldovici, the quality of the materials used to repair the roads at present is low and does not meet the European standards. A complex set of measures will be implemented to make sure that the roads in Moldova are of European quality. The quality of the construction materials and equipment will be verified, while the quality evaluation laboratories will be reequipped and reaccredited. Under the national road rehabilitation program, the roads with heavy traffic will be the first to be modernized and repaired in 2008. Among these are Chisinau-Balti, Chisinau-Hincesti-Cimislia-Comrat, Causeni - Stefan-Voda, and Orhei-Rezina roads. The projects initiated in 2007 will be completed // Reporter.MD Publication date: 17 May 2008 Source: Archive ADsLatest news
