About 35% of tourists that visited Moldova over January-March were foreigners
Roughly 35% of the 14,600 tourists that stopped in hotels, pensions and other accommodation facilities and health resorts in Moldova in the first quarter of this year were foreign tourists.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the hotels and pensions accommodated 42,000 tourists. Out or these, 65% or 27,400 were Moldovans. The number of Moldovan tourists fell by 6.7% compared with the corresponding period last year, while of foreign tourists rose by 3.6%. Some 21% of the foreign tourists were Romanians, 12% - Ukrainians, 9.5% - Russians, 9.4% - Turkish, 7% - Italians, 5% - Germans, 4.8% - Americans.
