The railway, road, fluvial and air companies transported 5.903,3 million tonnes of goods during January-April 2008, an increase of 24.1% compared with the corresponding period last year.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, 4.238,1 million tonnes were transported by trains. This is by 13% more compared January-April 2007. The building materials made up 26.5% of the total volume of goods conveyed by trains, the cement - 25.6%, the ferrous metals - 23.9%.
Some 0,300 tonnes were transported by planes, a decrease of 19.2% compared with the same period last year, while 29,300 tonnes were shipped by fluvial transport, a decrease of 28.4%.
