Imports of Russian gas into Moldova at US$98.6 million in three months
The imports of Russian gas into Moldova in the first quarter of this year rose by 17.4% compared with the corresponding period last year, to US$98.6 million. The value of the Russian gas imports in Moldovan lei increased by only 1.8%, to 1.93 billion lei. Such a discrepancy is explained by the appreciation of the Moldovan leu against the US dollar, currency used to calculate the import price of the natural gas.
According to the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), the average import price of the gas calculated in US dollars in the first quarter of 2008 rose by 10.5% on the same period of 2007, to US$190.85 per 1,000 cubic meters. In Moldovan lei, the price decreased by 4.5%, from 2,208 lei per 1,000 cubic meters in 2007 to 2,114.6 lei per 1,000 cubic meters in 2008. In a report presented to ANRE, Moldova-Gaz SA says that the gas purchased during January-March 2008 was fully paid. All the consumers, except the enterprises from the energy sector, paid for the consumed gas. By April 1, 2008, the companies working in the energy industry paid 98% of the consumed gas // Reporter.MD Publication date: 27 May 2008 Source: Archive ADsRelated links- Balti-Ungheni gas pipeline will be ready by next spring - Gasoline and diesel oil prices reduced - Moldova imports more oil products - Eighteen new gas pipelines will be constructed by next summer - More Russian natural gas transported via Moldova - Transdniestria’s debt for Russian gas is increasing - Gas and electric power compensations have been raised - Natural gas, electric power and heating charges raised - Moldova will not pay Transdniestria’s debt for Russian natural gas - Consumers will pay 2,970 lei to be connected to gas pipeline Latest news
