Gas consumption at 480m cubic meters in three months
Natural gas consumption in Moldova in the first quarter of this year increased by 6.4% compared with the corresponding period last year, up to 480.05 million cubic meters, the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) has said.
According to ANRE, consumption at the institutions financed from the budget over January-March rose 22%, to 23.96 million cubic meters, while household consumption increased by over 14%, to 141.87 million cubic meters. Specialists of ANRE say that the number of consumers has increased, mainly following the implementation of the national gasification program. The companies working in the energy sector account for 47.3% of the total consumption. In the first quarter of this year, they consumed 226.84 million cubic meters of gas or by 3.7% more than the year before. The other economic entities account for 18.2% of the consumption, the residential households – for 29.5%, while the institutions financed from the budget – for 5%.
