Azeri banks disposed to invest in Moldovan economy
“Moldova’s dependence on imported energy resources makes our country participate in GUAM projects,” the president of the Banks’ Association of Moldova Dumitru Ursu said recently in Baku. He referred to the projects on building the main pipeline Azerbaijan-Georgia-Ukraine-Europe and the Black Sea Ring Highway that will cross Moldova.
“The import prices of the energy resources are very important for Moldova at a time when the oil and gas prices are permanently rising, reason for which the cooperation within GUAM is also important,” Ursu said, quoted by the Azeri press. It should be noted that presently, Moldova imports 85% of the electricity and 95% of the other energy resources it needs. “We do not have representative offices or direct branches of Moldovan banks in Azerbaijan yet, but we want to work in Azerbaijan as the Azeri banks want to work in Moldova. The Azeri banks have enough financial resources to invest in the Moldovan economy,” Ursu said // Reporter.MD Publication date: 02 June 2008 Source: Archive ADsRelated links- Investprivatbank pays dividends for 2007 - Investment in fixed capital up 12.3% - Loans worth 1.45bn lei released in June - Microinvest receives finance to lend to rural businesses - Only one fifth of investments in fixed capital come from abroad - Investments of 50m euros in Shopping Malldova center - Investprivatbank will raise capital by 50m lei - Foreign direct investment in Moldova up twofold - The volume of remittances to Moldova in January-April 2008 has made almost 0,5 billion dollars - The Swedish company are interested in the market of Moldova Latest news
