The owners of maxi-taxies from Balti ask to double the cost of a travel
The owners of maxi-taxies from Balti ask the local authorities to increase the cost of travel in maxi-taxi till 4 lei, invoking the lack of profitableness of business of public transport in the locality once the prices for fuel increased, DECA-press Agency transmits.
The letter signed by more than 50 people addressed to the Mayor of Balti Vasili Panciuk reads:„ For each microbus we spent daily up to 600 lei on petrol, for the driver’s salary and for the payment of taxes. Some routes were taken out of the main street of the town and directed on overland routes where there are no passengers.” The owners of maxi-taxi threaten with a strike starting with next week if the authorities will not take measures vis-a-vis their request. Asked by DECA-press Agency Lilia Gutul vice- mayor of Balti declared that the letter of maxi-taxi owners was examined at the sitting of a commission of specialty of the Municipal Council but they couldn’t get to common sense because the petitioners didn’t present the documents which would prove their expenses and their lack of profit. The vice mayor declared that this question follows to be examined in 3 weeks and in dependence of their presented documents a decision regarding the increase of the travel cost with a maxi-taxi will be taken.
