A sum of US$28.2 million went to service Moldova’s external debt in the first half of this year.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the basic payments totaled US$19.3 million (205.4 million lei). US$8.9 million (99.8 million lei) was used to pay interest.

This year, Moldova will spend US$54.2 million to service the external debt, by US$1 million more than last year. Moldova’s foreign debt at the end of March was US$3.535,14 billion, an increase of 7.1% or US$234.89 million compared with the start of 2008// Reporter.MD
