The Parliament passed amendments to the state budget law for 2008 on Thursday. The revenues were increased by 340.6 million lei, to 14.998,6 billion lei, while the expenditure by 216.6 million lei, to 15.098 billion lei. Therefore, the budget deficit decreased by 124 million lei, to 99.7 million lei.

Earlier, Minister of Finance Mariana Durlesteanu said that the budget law for 2008 is amended in accordance with the volume of incomes collected into the budget, the probable decreases in the volume of collected revenues. According to the Ministry of Finance, the collections to the budget in the first five months of this year exceeded projections by 9.1%.

The revenues to the state budget this year are projected to reach 102.3%. The revenues from the income taxes levied on entrepreneurial activities will rise by 66.9 million lei, from VAT paid on imported goods and the tax on foreign trade – by 260.2 million lei, form excises paid on vodka, wine in bulk, jewels, cars – by 159 million lei.

In order to minimize the effects of inflation, the additional incomes will be used to implement investment programs. Investments in constructions will be increased by 92.3 million lei. 31 million lei out of this sum will be allocated for developing the infrastructure of Giurgiulesti port.

A sum of 56.9 million lei will be earmarked for capital repairr, while 15 million lei will be allocated as lump-sum payments to young families for building dwellings. The universities and secondary schools will be allocated an additional sum of 10 million lei.// Reporter.MD
