Ukraine started to export electric power to Moldova through the agency of two operators, the Ukrainian press reports, quoting the Deputy Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine, Oleg Bugaev.
Bugaev said that a contract for the supply of electricity has been signed with the company Energo-Partner, besides the existing contract with the state-owned company Energocom. According to him, the given company proposed more advantageous conditions than Energocom as it has direct access to the Moldovan consumers.
Under the two contracts, the power will be supplied to Moldova at market prices from next summer. From June 1, 2008, Moldova purchases electrical energy from Ukraine for 4.4 US cents per kWh, price that is by 10% higher than the previous price.
Presently, Moldova imports about 70% of the total volume of power needed for internal consumption.//REPORTER.MD
