Natural gas, electric power and heating charges raised
The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) on July 30 approved higher natural gas, electric power and heating charges following the rise in the import prices of gas and power.
Under the ANRE decision, the natural gas charge was increased by about 27% to 3,523 lei per thousand cubic meters, by 748 lei higher than the current charge. The people that consume up to 30 cubic meters of natural gas a month will pay 3,414 lei per thousand cubic meters, while those that consume more than 30 cubic meters – 3,813 lei per thousand cubic meters. The electric power charges were raised by approximately 17%. The rate for the clients of RED Union Fenosa connected to 110 kV high tension lines was raised from 0.71 lei to 0.79 lei per kWh, while the other categories of consumers will pay 1.1 lei per kWh. RED Nord and RED Nord-Vest will put a tax of 1.2 lei per kWh on all the categories of consumers. The power charge was fixed at 454.7 lei per Gcal, by 36.4% higher than the present charge. The charge for the clients of CET 1 will be 512.05 lei per Gcal, for those of CET 2 - 410.4 lei per Gcal, while for the clients of CET Nord - 786 lei per Gcal. According to ANRE assessments, the monthly expenses of the population, calculated for a family of three persons that owns a two-room apartment with centralized heating, will be by about 14 lei higher for gas, by 13 lei higher for electric power and by 96 lei higher for the heat supplied by CET Nord. The new charges will come into force after published in the Official Monitor on August 1. ANRE Director General Vitalie Iurcu said that Moldovagaz confirmed that the new import price of the gas purchased by Moldova from Gazprom will be US$252.98 per thousand cubic meters for the third quarter of this year.
