Inflation rate down 0.9%

The inflation rate in July fell 0.9% on June. The prices of food products went down 3.3%, while the prices of non-food products rose 0.3%. The services provided for the population increased 0.7%.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the price of fresh vegetables decreased 24.6%, of potatoes 18.3%, of fresh fruit 17.1%, of milk and milk products 1.2%.

Among non-food products, domestic appliances, footwear and coal got about 0.2% cheaper.

At the same time, the non-alcoholic beverages in July grew dearer by 6.9%, honey by 3.9%, sausages by 2.3%, medicines by 1%, detergents by 0.9%, building materials by 0.5%.

Dwelling rental and stomatology services got dearer by 4.8%, water and sewerage charges by 3.7%, prices in public eateries by 1.2%.

The January-July inflation was 5.3%, while the yearly (July 2007-July 2008) inflation was 13.4%.

Experts predict that the 2008 inflation will be about 14.2%. The central bank has earlier said that the inflation rate this year will not exceed 10%.//REPORTER.MD
