More than 50% of foreign currency sale-purchase transactions are in dollars

About 55.1% of the foreign currency sale-purchase transactions performed by the national banks on the internal currency market in July were in US dollars, up 4.6% from June.

According to the National Bank of Moldova, 30.9% of the foreign currency sale-purchase transactions in July were performed in euros, 13.1% in Russian rubles, 0.7% in Ukrainian hrivnas and 0.2% in Romanian lei. The volume of purchases and sales in euros and rubles fell by 1.5% and 3.4% respectively.

The purchases and sales of principal foreign currencies for Moldovan lei in July totaled US$1.51 billion, an increase of 5.2% on June. The purchases for Moldovan lei totaled US$781.4 million, while the sales US$734 million, up 7.5% and, respectively, 2.8% from June.//REPORTER.MD
