Moldovan wines exhibited in Moscow despite Russian embargo

About 1,000 bottles of wines made by 20 Moldovan wineries participate in the exhibition CIS 15 Years – Cooperation and Integration, which takes place in Moscow on October 25-28. The wines were carried to Russia through a diplomatic effort despite Russia’s interdictions on Moldovan wines.

The Moldovan Embassy in Moscow has obtained an authorisation for participation of Moldovan wines in this exhibition, BASA learned from MoldovaVin representative, Valeriu Cebotari, member of the Moldovan delegation participating in the Russian exhibition. On the other hand, the Russian authorities banned the Chisinau mission to sell the wines or to organise tasting.

Moscow-based TV channels reported the opening of the exhibition CIS 15 Years – Cooperation and Integration, with some of them noting that "Russian officials have tasted Moldovan wines which are restricted on Russian market."

The companies that exhibit their wines in Moscow include Acorex Wine Holding, Dionysos-Mereni, Imperial-Vin, Vinia-Traian, Vinariile Purcari, Bostavan and Bardar, as well as state-owned enterprises Milestii Mici, Cricova and Vinuri-Ialoveni. Each of them exhibit approximately 50 bottles of wines, cognacs and sparking wines.

The first deputy premier of Moldova, Zinaida Greceanii, head of the Moldovan delegation to Moscow, has recently stated to BASA that she could discuss the wine problem in the Russian capital.

Rospotrebnazdor restricted the Moldovan wines on March 27 and accused later Belarus and Ukraine of re-exportation of Moldovan wines. // BASA-Press
