Moldovan-Belarusian tractors could be assembled in Moldova by the end of this year, Igor Milidovich, representative of the Belarusian Embassy in Chisinau, has said.

An adapted version of the tractor Belarus-82 could be assembled, which is bettwe for all agricultural works, including vineyards, orchards and sowing of sugar beet. It will be by 40 centimetres tighter than the basic model.

The concept of the universal tractor was elaborated by specialists of the Moldovan-Japanese Project 2KR and domestic company Agrofermotech.

The tractor is assembled at the technical centre of the 2KR Project and 12 models have been manufactured until now as an experiment, said 2KR Project director Vasile Bumacov, an author of the concept.

The experimental models have been sold and a tractor costs approximately 19,000 dollars. "It is a wheel tractor that does not cede to caterpillar tractors," said Vitalie Antoniu, manager of Agroaudit company, which bought the first assembled tractors in Chisinau.

The new model was awarded a golden medal at the Innovation of the Year contest organised at the October 25-29 exhibition Agrofermotech 2006. // BASA-Press
