Average salary in Moldova up 28.5 per cent in 2006
The average salary in Moldova amounted to 1,956 lei (129 dollars) in 2006, up by 28.5 per cent against 2005, according to data put out by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS).
The average salary on the economy increased by 14 per cent in 2006. Financial employees received the highest monthly remuneration - 3,865 lei, followed by employees of the electric thermal power and gas and water fields - 2,880 lei and transport and communication field - 2,559 lei. The average monthly salary of university professors was of 2,685 lei. In 2006, the agriculture employees got an average monthly salary of 890 lei. The salary's nominal increase was characteristic to all the economy's sectors in 2006. Essential increases in the monthly average wage were registered with the employees from public administration (57.9 per cent), education (37.2 per cent), extractive industry (31.9 per cent) and health and social assistance (31.2 per cent).
