Transdniestria would settle Russian gas debts in two years
Transdniestria plans to pay for the gas supplied by the Russian gas giant Gazprom in proportion of 100% in two years, head of the parliament in Transdniestria Evghenii Schevchuk told the reporters last weekend.
"We know what happened in Ukraine last year and in Belarus this year. That’s why, not considering the relations with Russia, we must pay for the gas at world prices,” he said. According to Schevchuk, the money from consumers that will go to pay for the gas will be accumulated in a special account and transferred to Gazprom. In such a way the money will reach the destination directly and would not be used for other purposes. Transdniestria owes about $1.2 billion to Gazprom. From January 1, 2006, Transdniestria pays $110 per thousand cubic meters of Russian gas. The level of payments for the gas supplied in 2006 was under 60%. // Reporter.MD Publication date: 12 February 2007 Source: Archive ADsRelated links- Balti-Ungheni gas pipeline will be ready by next spring - Gasoline and diesel oil prices reduced - Eighteen new gas pipelines will be constructed by next summer - More Russian natural gas transported via Moldova - Moldova’s internal debt remained unchanged - Transdniestria’s debt for Russian gas is increasing - Gas and electric power compensations have been raised - Natural gas, electric power and heating charges raised - Moldova will not pay Transdniestria’s debt for Russian natural gas - Consumers will pay 2,970 lei to be connected to gas pipeline Latest news
