U.S. automaker General Motors Corp. said Wednesday it will offer a free three-month trial of XM Satellite Radio on selected used GM vehicles.

The new-car-like incentive for Certified Used Vehicles applies to GM's Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, GMC, Oldsmobile, Cadillac and Hummer brands, the Detroit automaker said in a news release.

The satellite radio service, which claims to have more than 8 million subscribers, is expected to be available in more than 115,000 used GM cars and trucks this year and 168,000 vehicles in 2008, GM said.

Over the last five years, XM has been featured in millions of GM vehicles, Certified Used Vehicles Manager Paul Pejza said. It is only natural that we launch this program to provide GM Certified Used Vehicles customers an even more compelling value.

An XM subscription costs about $13 a month.

GM's Certified Used Vehicles are six years old or newer, have 60,000 miles or less, and have undergone a 117-point inspection and reconditioning process, GM said. They also have a five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty.
