South Koreans received more confirmation of an improving economy with the September jobless rate dipping to 3 percent from August’s 3.1 percent.
Yonhap reported Wednesday the September number also was lower than the median 3.08 percent forecast by the news agency’s group of economists.
The improvement was mainly due to job growth in the service, financial and transportation sectors, which were slightly offset by declines in agricultural, fisheries and manufacturing sectors, the report said.
The government said consumers were likely to increase their spending in the future, further improving economic growth.
Earlier Wednesday, the Finance Ministry said the country is enjoying both rising exports and growing domestic consumption.
