Fishmongers headed the list of businesses people would like to return to the streets of London, a survey reported.
In a poll of 1,000 people, about a third said their main shopping area would benefit most by the addition of a seafood shop, The Independent reported Tuesday.
"Fishmongers top the list of ingredients our high streets should have but lack," said the British Shops and Stores Association, which commissioned the poll.
About 6,000 fishmongers, nearly 75 percent of the seafood retailers, closed during the past 20 years. Most fresh fish is sold in supermarkets.
The next two most desired additions were fashion retailers, 22 percent, and furniture shops, 21 percent.
