A series of company presentations will take place this week in Kansas where casinos groups are looking to expand their holdings.

The presentations taking place in Wellington, Kan., will give the companies a chance to officially propose the creation of casinos worth more than $350 million in Sumner County near the Kansas Turnpike, The Wichita (Kan.) Eagle said Sunday.

Despite the rural nature of Sumner County, gaming analysts have said they are not surprised by the casino groups' interest in building gambling sites there.

"When a new jurisdiction opens up, it becomes enticing even for companies that traditionally haven't built in those types of regions," Majestic Research gaming analyst Matthew Jacob said.

The county is one of the rare jurisdictions in the United States that allows gambling, making it a key focus for any potential gambling expansion by the groups.

The Eagle said among the major gaming names set to campaign on Monday and Tuesday are the MGM Mirage and Harrah's Entertainment, both major names in the Las Vegas community.  // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
