The IMF is ready to help Moldova in searching for optimal decisions for the development of the national economy. It was said at a meeting between Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev and IMF Mission Head Graham Justice, who is currently paying a visit to Moldova.

According to the governmental press service, the IMF representative arrived to Moldova to assess the course of the execution of the budget and the Memorandum of 2007 and to discuss the Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies for 2008.

Graham Justice appreciated highly the results, reached by the Moldovan Government in the implementation of economic reforms. He considers that the Government took timely measures on curbing the inflation, it achieved considerable successes in the privatization of state-owned property and the restructuring of the public sector and it worked out a good budget’2008.

The Mission Head promised further support for the Government’s efforts on providing the economic growth, macro-economic stability, the development of banking and financing sector.

The Premier appreciated the IMF’s constructive position in relations with the Moldovan Government. He underlined that the Moldovan Government is interested in Cooperation with international financial organizations for the sake of the state’s economic development and providing the wellbeing of its citizens.
