The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) adopted at the meeting on Thursday, December 20, the draft of the municipal budget for 2008 in the first reading.

The draft was adopted with 28 votes of the 51 municipal councillors. The PCRM and PPCD factions abstained from voting.

The draft of the municipal budget for 2008 stipulates the sum of - 1 billion 400 million leu for income and 1 billion 454 million leu for expenses with a deficit of 53,8 million leu. The deficit is to be covered from the means expected from the capital operations.

The CMC had to adopt the draft of the municipal budget on December 4, 2007. The draft had no strategic planning and had to be modified, that is why it failed to be adopted in the first reading.

The incomes expected for 2007 amounted to about 1 billion 559 million leu, while the expenses amounted to about 1 billion 830 million leu. // BASA-Press
