The sitting of the Municipal Council of Balti was held under closed doors for more than one hour
Over one hundred small entrepreneurs from Balti, working on the basis of brevets, tried in vain to enter the sitting room of the Municipal Council of Balti (CMB) on Tuesday evening, where the last sitting of this forum in the current year was held, DECA-press transmits.
Nearly 50 persons managed to enter the sitting room of the Balti forum, after the police had to interfere to limit the access of small entrepreneurs in the room. The police officers, who were ten, locked the door of the room in order to stop the access of the citizens at the sitting of CMB, which have to be open for the public according to the legislation. Small entrepreneurs asked a councillor to include the problem which would refer to the creation of a working group at a municipal level which would negotiation with the Government and the Parliament the institution of a moratorium on the application of the Law 208 until 2009. The Law provides from January 1st, the prohibition of the activity on the basis of brevets and the institution of the obligatory character of creation for small entrepreneurs of firms with the status of individual enterprise. The door of CMB was opened one hour and a quarter after the sitting, when it was clear that the problem of small entrepreneurs hadn’t been included in the daily agenda of the sitting, because the communist majority from the forum voted against this fact. In time of the sitting, the mayor of Balti, Vasili Panciuk, declared the small entrepreneurs that “their problem had been examined at the mayoralty for four times”, so that “those who have questions, may address additionally to the vice mayor responsible of this problem”. In their turn, the small entrepreneurs who are dissatisfied with the reticence the local authorities displayed in this context, declared that they would organize some more actions of protection after the winter holidays. On Monday, December 24th, nearly one thousand entrepreneurs from Balti asked in time of a meeting of protest for the institution of a moratorium to the application of the Law 208 for a year. In case the authorities do not fulfil their wish, the small entrepreneurs threaten they would organize great actions of protest and will block the international road from the North of the country. According to the official data, there are nearly 2,4 thousand small entrepreneurs in Balti working on the basis of brevets.
