In 2007 remittances exceeded 1.2 bn USD

In 2007 the Moldovan citizens working abroad transferred through commercial banks 1 bn 216.22 mln USD. The remittances exceeded by 42.3% the amount registered in 2006.

According to the statistics of the National Bank of Moldova, 75.5% (918.75 mln USD) of the volume of remittances were transferred via money rapid transfer systems.

During 2007, monthly remittances registered a constant growth from 60 mln USD in January up to 127.36 mln USD in August and 129.56 mln USD in October. Experts say that the growing trend of the volume of transfers preserved by the end of 2007 and will continue this year.
