In 2007 the Moldovan citizens working abroad transferred through commercial banks 1 bn 216.22 mln USD. The remittances exceeded by 42.3% the amount registered in 2006.
According to the statistics of the National Bank of Moldova, 75.5% (918.75 mln USD) of the volume of remittances were transferred via money rapid transfer systems. During 2007, monthly remittances registered a constant growth from 60 mln USD in January up to 127.36 mln USD in August and 129.56 mln USD in October.
