Moldovan wine exports registered an increase of four times in January 2008

Moldovan exports of spirits registered in January 2008 an increase of about four times, from 2 mln 258 thousand USD up to 8 mln 803 thousand USD, show data of the Moldova-Vin Agroindustrial Agency. During the same period exports to the CIS market, which is further the main outlet region for the Moldovan products, reached 7 mln 226 thousand USD, registering an increase by 4.6 times against January 2007.

According to Agency’s data, Moldovan wine exports to Ukraine increased by 3.5 times and amounted to 3 mln 17.6 thousand USD; Russia (1 mln 969 thousand USD); Kirgizstan (98.9 thousand USD (+9%); Georgia (111 thousand USD (5.2 times up); Belarus (1 mln 905 USD (10.5 times up).

Also, exports to the European Community increased by 2.5 times and amounted to 1 mln 443.3 thousand USD. The biggest importer of Moldovan wine production was Poland with a volume of 624.3 thousand USD or 3.3 times more against same period of last year.

The second and third places on spirits import belong to Romania and Germany with 416.7 thousand USD and 173.8 thousand USD, respectively. Thus, the export of wine products to Romania grew by 4.5 times, and to Germany by 9.9 times. Other important stocks of wine production were exported to Czech Republic (76.9 thousand USD), Bulgaria (28.6 thousand USD), Ireland (20 thousand USD), South Korea (8 thousand USD) and Israel (64.8 thousand USD).  // BASA-Press
